COUNCIL CHAMBERS MEMBERS PRESENT: Chuck Dickerson Bill Mountsier Mary Carter Dan Koch Richard Herr Emelie Eaton OTHERS PRESENT: Kelly Rhoads Kurt Markegard Mark Mace Public Input: None Republic Service- Commercial Waste Solutions: Dan Koch invited Julia Jones from Republic Services to come speak about recycling. She stated that they recycle aluminum, metal, paper, plastic and cardboard. They do not take things such as Barbie dolls and 5 gallon buckets. They offer 30 yard containers as well as curb side recycling. The City would have to change their ordinances in order to allow Republic Service to come into the city to . pick up curb side recycling. Julia stated that the price for a 30 yard container is $40.00 per ton and curb side recycling is $12.00 per month picked up twice. Julia was going to send out brochures to Dan Koch for more information and will hand them out at the next meeting. Water PER update: Kurt supplied the committee with the Water System PER Presentation from Great West Engineering. He discussed some key points in the presentation. Kurt explained that the projected water demand is about five million gallons per day, which is about a 1% growth. He said that the sedimentation basins need to be replaced with the addition of automatic sludge removal. A building over the basins is necessary to prevent deterioration of the basins and eliminate potential contamination of water. Because of the limited space at the WTP, the City could use existing filters. Kurt stated that there is only one storage tank and it is structurally in good condition, but will need some maintenance. Great West recommended an additional storage tank. As a summary, the SED basins need to be covered, new backwash water and sludge ponds and construct new water tank to allow separate pressure zones. The 4 -inch lines need to be upsized or replaced because they are in poor condition and relocate or modify booster stations. There was discussion on whether a fence would need to be put up, or the road moved for security purposes. Kurt stated that the projected cost of this project is $4.1 million to $8.5 million. The meeting was adjourned at 6:50 p.m. Respectfully submitted, / Kelly Rh ads Utility Billing Clerk
