Steve Klotz will look into the situation. Lauren stated that Vince R/cci wanted to discuss Ricci's recent water and sewer fees with the Public Works Committee. Gay stated that he was on the last Public Works Committee agenda but did not come to the meeting. Steve Klotz explained the status of the city's website. A link to the city council shows a map of the four wards of the city and a list of names and phone numbers of the council. E-mail links can be added to allow e-mail to be received by each councilman. The e-mail would be sent to the county site, and then sent to each councilman's personal e-mail address. The website for the City of Laurel is up now, but there are things that need to be changed. Cal Cumin mentioned that Fischer & Associates produced a website for the City of Laurel under the Transportation Grant. The site will be turned over to the City of Laurel when the streetscape design work is completed. The website is at fisherandassociates.corn/laurel. Chief Musson stated that the Police Department conducted a drug search at the high school today. Every locker in the school and every vehicle in the parking lot were searched, and the search was successful with no hits. The school resource officer (SRO) has been a valuable asset. Rick mentioned the ongoing problem with vehicles being parked on the north side of the park next to the football field. The city crew put up logs to prevent cars from going in the area, but people move the logs and park. Officers have written tickets, but the problem still continues. Rick asked if there could be a more permanent solution to the problem. Mayor Rodgers and Larry recently decided that a chain link fence with a gate needed to be installed at that location. City Council Committee of the Whole minutes of October 2, 2001 Duke Nieskens showed a core sample from the 1.5 million gallon water reservoir and distributed information regarding core samples done in 1995. When the sandblasting and recoating was done on this reservoir, it was considered to be temporary in order to take the 4 million gallon reservoir off line for sandblasting and repainting. There have been problems with holes in the reservoir. Duke stated that the reservoir is not being used because the liability for catastrophe outweighs the advantages of the 1.5 million gallons of storage. He encouraged the council to invite citizens to attend the pre-council meetings in order to educate them regarding the need to repair and update the system. The meeting adjourned at 6:51 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Cindy Allen Council Secretary
