Activity Report for the month of September, 2001 for submittal to the
Yellowstone County Air Pollution Control Board on October 9, 2001.
1. INDUSTRIAL COMPLIANCE
A. Rocky Mountain Concrete Products was inspected for the first time after
receiving a DEQ operating permit. There have been several
improvements in the plant, which should reduce visible emissions
considerably.
B. Fox Distribution in Laurel was checked again for blowing sawdust. They
expect to have large storage bins available by the end of October.
II. ADMINISTRATION
A. With 25% of the fiscal year over, we have expended approximately 23%
of our budgeted funds.
B. Current air quality data for Yellowstone County is now available at
www.co.vellowstone.mt.us. Except for a few minor changes, the
EMPACT project is complete.
C. A legal notice for changing our regulations was published in the Billings
Gazette on September 2nd. The Board will have to hold a public hearing
on those changes at this meeting, October 9'h. I have enclosed a copy of
the legal notice for your information, and item #4 explains why the
regulations are being updated. As I will be out of town during the week of
October 8"', Mr. Bob Martin from the State DEQ will be here to answer
any questions you may have.
