The committee reviewed and discussed the following preliminary budgets:
City-County Planning
Ambulance
Fire Department
Firemen' s Relief Association
Cai will prepare a proposal of how to administer the city'S TCSP Grant. He will provide the city
with a copy of the grant budget. The funds will be funneled through the Department of
Transportation.
The committee instructed Jan to explore financing options for a newer ambulance. The old
ambulance is unreliable.
Jim stated that the Fire Department has stayed within their capital outlay plan. He is working on
achieving a lower ISO rating. The ISO conducts a review every fifteen years, with the next one
scheduled for 2009. However, the mayor can request a review sooner if the department has
obtained substantial new equipment, etc.
The Firemen's Relief Association budget will be affected by the passage of Senate Bill 500, which
increases the ceiling of 4% taxable value to 10%. The effective date needs to he clarified in order to
budget for 2000 or 2001.
Other issues discussed included financial statements, health insurance and the computer system.
The meeting adjourned at 10:20 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Mary K. Embleton
City Clerk-Treasurer
