Minutes of tie City Council of Laurel
January 16, 1979
A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of I.a,urel, Montana,
was held in the Council Chambers and called to order by Mayor Larry' D. Herman,
at 7:00 o~clock, P.M on Tuesday, Januar~r 16, 1979•

Mayor announced the appointment of Don Hackmann as the nefa City Clerk.
His term to run .concurrent witk~ the term of the Mayor.
Motion bar Alderman Metzler: To accept the appointment of Don Haekmann
as City Clerk. Seconded by Alderman Burns. Motion carried with
Alderman Kilpatrick voting "NO".

Minutes of the special meeting of January 9, 1979, approved as presented.
Thank you note was read from Frances Fisher.
BIDS - S .T .D . No . 100 and 101:
This being the time axid place advertised for the opening of bids for
S .I .D . No. 100 and 101, the Clerk was instructed to open any and all b3.d.s received.
S.T.D. No. 100 bond bid received from Property Supervision Inc. for 8~ with a
cashiers check for X10,650.00 attached. This being the only bond bad received.
Motion b~ Alderman Burns: To accept the bid for 8~ from Property
Supervision Inc. Seconded by Alderman Meyers. Motion carried.

At this time the bids were referred to the engineering firm for study.

This being the time and place advertised for the opening of bids for
a new Police Car, the clerk was instructed to open arty and all bids received.
Fichtner Chevrolet: Total no trade price on Impala- - - - - -$6,677.08
Total no trade price on Chevelle- - - - - $ 6,025.83
Lease on Impala 2I~ months unlimited mileage $317.06 per month.
Lease on Chevelle 21~ months unlimited mileage $288.71 per month. Add $15.00 per above no trade prices for air conditioning.

At --phis time the bids were referred to the Police Committee for study.
I Mayor called a 10 minute recess for the purpose of studying the bids. !
Upon re-convening, the following motions were made.
Motion, b 'Alderman Burn: To accept the bid from Johnscm Ford for the LTD for ,~.~0.02 without air conditioning and the tilt steering
wheel. Seconded by Alderman ~hrliek. Discussion regarding the tzlt
steering wheel. '
Motion by Alderman Carter: To amend the motion to include the ti1.t ~II
steering wheel. Seconded by Alderman Rodgers. Upon voting on the I,
'amendment, Alderman Ehrlick called for a division of the house. Alderman Kilpatrick, Ehrliek and Metzger voted "NO", and Alderman
Burns, Meyers, Rodgers, Carter and Massey voted "YES". Amendment
carried.
Vote on motion to buy the LTD with i.lt steering ~rheel carded with
Alderman Massey Ehrl3.ck and Kilpatrick voting "NO". Car to be paid I for out o~ Revenue Sharing money.
JOHIV MCMAftTIN - PLANNIl~TG BOARD :
John McMartin gave a report on the status of the Planning Board.

MAYOR'S CONLME~ITS : I,
Mayor stated there would be a new schedule set up for snaur removal. ~I
They are asking the people to park on the south and west sides of the street
on even days, and to park on the north and east sides of the street on odd days.
The department heads reported on the operations of their department.
S .I .D . la0 and 101:
At this time, the engineering firm was still studying the bids for
S.I.D. 100 and 101. ThP Mayor stated that the bids would b~ continued until.
the February' 6th meeting.
There being no further bus3.ness to come before the council at this
time, the meeting was adjourned.
