Minutes of the City Council of Laurel September i6, 1980 A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Laurel, Montana, was held in the Council Chambers and called to order by the President of the Council, Alderman Metzger, at 7:10 p.m., on September 16, 1980. IThe Mayor was absent until approximately 7:15 p.m.) COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT: Albert Ehrlick Duane Behm Donald Meyers COUNCIL MEMBERS ABSENT: Harold Burns INVOCATION: Invocation given by Reverend E. Bill Brennan Susan Carter Terry Fink Ervin Metzger C. Biller. MINUTES: Minutes of the regular meeting of September 2, 1980, approved as presented. Minutes of the special meeting of September 3, 1980, approved as presented. Minutes of the special meeting of September 8, 1980, approved as presented. CORRESPONDENCE: Received a copy of a letter to Board of County Commissioners from the City-County Planning Board recommending not to vacate Mulberry Avenue. Motion by Alderman Ehrllck to accept~the recommendation of the City- County Planning Board, seconded by Alderman Meyers. Carried. Received a copy of a letter from the City-County Planning Board recom- mending a 1-yrs. extension of the conditional approval of Westgarten Sub- division per Resolution No. 1742. Motion by Alderman. M.e.yers to accept the recommendation of the City- County Planning Board that the 1-yr. extension be allowed, seconded by Alderman Ehrlick. Carried. APPOINTMENTS -- LAUREL RESERVE and AUXILIARY POLICE: The Mayor informed the Council of the appointments as follows: Auxiliary officers Jesse A. Chavez Cheri Rene' Baldwin Clement Richard Pecukonis Received a letter from the of Auxiliary officers and Reserve officers Reserve officers John Mitchell Strecker Donald Lee Brown, Jr. Chief of Police regarding problem areas and corrective action taken regarding deficiencies with the city jail. LAUREL SANITARY SEWER REHABILITATION: Resolutions accepting the work com- pleted by Guildner Water and Sewer and also by Holm-Sutherland Company, Inc. was deferred until a later date, because some street patching still needs to bedone. MAYOR'S COMMENTS: Reverend Ed Ferguson passed away. He was instrumental in getting the ministers to attend the Council meetings. The City Clerk was directed to send a card and flowers on behalf of the City. Announced a special meeting on Tuesday, September 23, at 7:00 p.m. regarding HUD grants. Two firms will give presentations on assisting the City with the application. Minutes of the City Council of Laurel page 2 The Mayor and City Cierk reported on the 1980 Towns convention held at Fairmont Not Springs. DON MEYERS -- WATER RATE INCREASE: RESOLUTION NO. 1814 BEING A RESOLUTION SPECIFYING A PERMANENT WATER RATE AND WATER REGULATION MODIFICATIONS TO BECOME EFFECTIVE UPON PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION APPROVAL; AND RE©UESTING AND SPECIFYING INTERIM WATER RATE AND WATER REGULATION UNTIL FINAL APPROVAL; AND A DETERMINATION OF THE WATER SERVICE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF LAUREL; AND DIRECTING APPLICATION FOR PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION APPROVAL THEREOF. Motion by Alderman Meyers that Resolution No. 1814 be adopted, seconded by Alderman Fink. Carried. There being no.further business to come before the Council at time, the meeting was adjourned at 7:50 p.m. Donald L.
