July 24, 1980
A special meeting of the City Council of the City or.Laurel, Montana,
was held in the Council Chambers and called to order by Mayor Larry D.
Herman, at 7:00 p.m., on July 24, 1980. The purpose of this meeting is to
act on a motion by Alderman Fink which was made at the regular council
meeting of July 1, 1980.
COUNCIL MEMBERS PRESENT:
Albert Ehrlick
Duane Behm
Donald Meyers
COUNCIL MEMBERS ABSENT: Harold Burns
Bill Brennan
Susan Carter
Terry Fink
Ervin Metzger
Motion by Alderman Meyers to bring.the motion, "to delay the purchase
of a garbage compactor for one year," made by Alderman Fink and seconded
by Alderman Meyers at the July 1, 1980, regular council meeting, off of
the table and back to the floor, seconded by Alderman Ehrlick. Carried.
Discussion.
Motion by Alderwoman Carter to amend the original motion to read, "to
delay the purchase of a garbage compactor until funds are available,"
seconded by Alderman Ehrlick. Carried with Alderman Metzger voting "no."
After more discussions the~question was called on the original motion
as amended, "to delay the purchase of a garbage compactor until funds
are available." The motion was defeated 7--0.
Motion by Alderman Behm to open the bids for a garbage compactor and
refer them to the garbage committee for 30 days, seconded by Alderman EhrIick.
Carried.
Bids received from Western Equipment Co.~
were opened and read aloud as follows:

The bids were referred to the garbage committee for study and
recommendation.
There being no further business to come before the Council at this
