July 15, 1980
A regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Laurel, Montana,
was held in the Council Chambers and called to order by Mayor Larry D. Herman,
at 7:05 p.m., on July 15, 1980.

INVOCATION: Invocation given by Reverend Wilhelm
MINUTES: Minutes of the regular meeting of July 1, 1980, approved as presented.
CORRESPONDENCE: Received two letters from Michael Mace of Mace Realty. and
Insurance, regarding the concern of the condition of the streets on 8th Ave.
and 12th Street and 8th Street East in front of Sunhaven Trailer Park and
three pads within the park.
Received a letter from Attorney Paul G. Olsen regarding injuries that
Calvin Elton received while a p&ss~ngeron a motorcycle which was struck
by a police car on the 4th of July.
The letter was referred to the City's insurance carrier.
Albert Ehrlick--Street and Alley Committee
The committee~ recommended spotting of trucks on Saturday and Sunday
only, due to a loss of gas being siphoned out of the tanks. Discussed street signs for Murray Heights.
D~scussed dips and outlets where storm sewer is being installed.
Motion by Alderman Ehrlick to give the Mayor authority to sign change
order for filling in the dips and installing two new outlets related to
the storm sewer. Seconded by Alderman Fin~. Carried.
Motion by Alderman Ehrlick to enter the street and alley committee
minutes of July 9, 1980 into the record. Seconded by Alderman Brennan.
Carried.
Claims:
A copy of the "Statement of Items Released for Payment" for the balance
of June claims has been presented to the Council for review and approval.
Motion by Alderman M.etzger that the claims be approved as presented.
Seconded by Alderwoman Carter Carried.
Proposed Ordinance Amending Zoning Ordinance Subdivision Regulations.
This was continued until the next regular Council meeting.

MAYOR'S COMMENTS:
Introduced the new Police Chief, Michael Bloom, to the City Council.
Reminded the Council of the Garbage rate hearing on July 22nd, for the
people that have asked that their rate be reviewed, and a Special Council
Meeting on July 24th to open bids o~ the Compactor.
Aldermen Brennen and Metzger were granted permission to leave the state.
Alderman Ehrlick requested a p~r~0n~l meeting tonight after the regular
Council meeting, i!
Jim Martin reques~a copy of the water tariff schedule. The Clerk was
directed to send him a copy.
Inez Vaughn inquired as to when there would be a public budget hearing--
Answer--August 6th.
There being no further business to come before the Council at this time,~i
the meeting was adjourned at 7:~~~~
