HomeMy WebLinkAboutBudget/Finance Committee Minutes 12.20.1999 MINUTES BUDGET/FINANCE COMMITTEE DECEMBER 20, 1999 6:15 P.M. PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT OFFICE MEMBERS PRESENT: OTHERS PRESENT: Chairman Bud Johnson Gay Easton Gary Temple Jan Faught Chuck Rodgers Mary Embleton The committee reviewed and discussed the comp/OT reports for PPE 12/12/99. The committee reviewed and approved the payroll register for PPE 12/12/99 and for comp time payout. November financial reports were briefly reviewed and discussed. The mayor would like to have Don Hackmann come in and explain how he prepared the enterprise budgets in the past and compare to how they were prepared for 1999-2000. The mayor's concern is that the expenditures are higher than the revenues. Mary reported that she received a letter from "abs" on December 8th regarding the city's outstanding balance of $2,315.00 and that if it were not paid by December 20th, they would "dispose" of the city's Gateway ALR 7200 computer and apply the proceeds towards the outstanding balance. Mary also stated that she discussed the issue on December 9th with Joe Leckie and he suggested filing a lawsuit against "abs". He would discuss it with the mayor. However, Mayor Rodgers stated he had not heard from Joe. Gary Temple motioned to pay the outstanding balance and have the computer returned to the city. The motion was seconded by Gay. Lengthy discussion followed regarding the cost of litigation vs. the fact that "abs" never substantiated their restocking charges with actual invoices of parts for the computer. The motion passed by a 3-1 vote with Bud Johnson dissenting. Jan Faught, Ambulance Director, presented the committee with an estimate of $1,348.00 for repairs to the back-up ambulance. Afrer discussion, the committee approved the request for repairs. The meeting adjourned at 7:00 p.m. The next meeting will be on January 3rd at 7:00 p.m. Respectfully submitted, Clerk-Treasurer
