BEING AN ORDINANCE SETTING UP A SURCHARGE FOR EACH ADDITIONAL
SEWER CONNECTION TO THE MUNICIPAL SYSTEM OF THE CITY OF LAUREL
AND, DECLAP. ING IT AN EMERGENCY, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITy COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF LAUREL;
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Laurel has found that new
and additional hookups to the municipal sewer system are o~erloading the present
system, and that the same will have to be materially enlarged by additions made
thereto to care for such new sewer hookups; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council, in its discretion, finds that such new
sewer hookups should pay a reasonable charge to join on the municipal system, and,
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that an emergency situation now
exists in connection with additional sewer hookups,
NOW THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that from and after
the passage of this Ordinance, each new building site hooking on to the municipal
sewer system of the City of Laurel shall pay the sum of $200.00 and the additional
sum of $100. 00 for each additional dwelling, apartment, living residence or business
upon the site; that such charge shall be paid at the time a building permit is issued
and shall be payable in cash and no building permit may issue out of the City until
such charge be paid. All sums received herefrom shall be deposited to the Sewer
Replacement Fund.
An emergency heretofore having been declared, this Ordinance shall
be in full force and effect immediately upon its passage.
