HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 602ORDINANCE NO. 6O2 BEING AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE OPENING AND CLOSING OR EXCAVATING CITY STREETS OR ALLEYS: BE IT ORDaiNED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAUREL: Section 1. That no individual~ firm, contractor~ corporation, utility company, or any other person shall make any opening or an excavation in a street or alley in the City of Laurel without first obtaining a permit to do so from the City Engineer's office of the City of Laurel. Section 2. That before the City Engineer's office shall issue any per- mit the applicant must post a bond in the sum of $2~ 000.00~ requiring that the street or alley will be put back in the condition it was before such opening was made. Section 3. The City Engineer's office shall require such information from the applicant as the City Engineer may deem pertinent as to the need for the opening; the length of time to be opened and whatever information the City Engineer deems pertinent. Section 4. The City Engineer may, in granting the permit, limit the size ef the opening to be made; the time if may remain open; and further require such safety marking and warning signs to be posted as he deems necessary. Section 5. The said permit to be issued shall require the opening made in any street or alley to be properly filled, sealed and the surface of the street or alley restored to its original condition. The City Engineer's office and the City Engineer thereof shall be deemed and appointed inspector to inspect all of such work done and the progress thereof. Section 6. To defray the cost of the necessary inspection and permit under this Ordinance, the City Engineer's office shall charge for the issuance of such permit~ $5.00 per opening.
