BEING AN ORDINANCE AMENDING A PORTION OF CHAPTER XVI - ANIMALS -
OF THE REVISED ORDINANCES OF LAUREL AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY,
THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
iI~AIIREL:
SECTION 1:
That section (9c) of Chapter XVI-1 of the Revised Ordinances of
Laurel, 1961, is herewith amended to read as follows:
"All dogs within the city limits of the City
of Laurel must be restrained at all times.
If upon the owner's property, it must be
restrained by an adequate fence or leash.
If off the owner's property, it must be under
leash control. Any person violating the pro-
visions of this section shall be subject to a
penalty of not less than $10.00 nor more than
$50. 00. The first offense for violating this
section must pay a minimum fine of $10.00;
the second offense for violating this provision
must pay a minimum fine of $25.00."
SECTION 2: That section (10) is herewith amended to provide as follows: ~-~'
"No person may obtain the release of a dog
from the dog pound that has been impounded
under the provisions of this ordinance without
first appearing before the Police Court and ob-
taining a certificate for the release of said dog.
That, in addition, such person must pay the
board bill for said dog at the rate of $5.00f~r
each day or portion thereof the animal was in
the pound. Any person requesting the dog
pound to dispose of an animal must pay all
necessary charges in connection therewith."
SECTION 3:
All other sections of Chapter XVI shall remain and be the
same.
SECTION 4:
It is herewith declared that an emergency does exist and that
this ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its passage.
