ONE (1) M~LE BEYOND LAUlkEL CITY LIMITS.
Whereas, the City Council of the City of Laurel has previously
adopted a Resolution giving notice of intent to adopt interim
zoning ordinance extending one (1) mile beyond Laurel city limits,
Whereas, Notice of Intent to adopt interim zoning ordinance
extending one (1) mile beyond the city limits of Laurel has been
given as provided in Section 11-2711 RCM, 1947 as amed~d,
Whereas, zoning ordinances within the City of Laurel are
required to protect the public safety, health and welfare of its
residents and property owners, and
Whereas, Laurel and the immediately contiguous area are
immenently subject to expansion and development, and
Whereas, the Laurel City-County Planning Board is considering
and studying a master plan covering its entire jurisdictional
area, but that said plan has not yet been finalized and approved
by the City of Laurel, and
Whereas, the adoption of interim zoning regulations for the
area immediately contiguous to the City and within one (1) mile
· of the present city limits is urgent to safeguard the City from
land uses which may be in conflict with the proposals presently
under study and consideration.
IT IS HEP~EBY ORDAINED:
1. T~at the City of Laurel does hereby extend the jurisdiction
of the zoning authority of the City to include all contiguous land
within one (1) mile in any direction of the present city limits.
2. That all uses inconsistent with R-1 Residence District
Zone, as defined in City Ordinance No. 508, Art. II, Sec. 2.1,
or agricultural use is hereby prohibited~ within said area.
3. That this ordinance shall be in effect for a period of
six months from the date of adoption, and that after public notice
and public hearing, the City Council may extend such interim

ordinance for one year. Not more than two such extensions may
be adopted.
