BEING AN ORDINANCE AMEN-DING SECTION 2.08. 090 OF THE CITY OF LAUREL
MUNICIPAL CODES 1977,
BE IT ORDAI~IED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAUREL THAT
SECTION 2.08. 090 OF THE CITY OF LAUREL MUNICIPAL CODES 1977 RELATING
TO THE DUTIES OF THE CITY ENGINEER IS HEREWITH AMENDED TO READ AS
FOLLOWS:
"The City Engineer shall:
(a) Engineer construction of streets, alleys, sidewalks,
recommending grades, staking the same.
(b) Prepare data on Special Improvement District projects.
(c) Manage the design and construction of all major projects.
(d) Develop short and long range plans coordinating with
developers, builders, and citizens on public needs and projects.
(e) Be ex officio street commissioner and shall have exclusive
charge and control of all work performed on any public street,
alley or culvert.
(f) Be the ex officio sewer commissioner and shall supervise
all sewers, connections and waste disposals.
(g) In carrying out his overall control of the city employees,
the City Engineer shall not interfere in the daily operation of
the various departments but shall exercise his authority through
the various department heads and supervisory employees.
(h) Keep on file all maps, surveys and plans necessary for the
performance of his duties, including maps of water lines, shut
off valves and sewers.
(i) Be registered in the state as a professional engineer.
Any provisions of the existing city ordinance in conflict herewith is here-
with repealed.
This ordinance shall be in full force and effect 30 days after its passage.
