HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 680 ORDINANCE NO. 680 RE©UIRING PAYMENT OF INSPECTION FEES AND POSTING OF BONDS BY ANY PERSON, PARTY, CORPORATION, BUSINESS, OR UTILITY DESIRING TO PERFORM CONSTRUCTION OR MAINTENANCE WORK IN ROADS, STREETS~ ALLEYS, OR THOROUGHFARES IN THE CITY OF LAUREL, MONTANA, BEFORE SUCH WORK MAY BE STARTED. BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Laurel, there is hereby added to the Laurel Municipal Code to Section 11.04 the following: Section 11.04.015 Requiring payment of Inspection Fees and posting of Bonds by any person, party, corporation, business, or utility desiring to perform construction or maintenance work in roads, streets, alleys, or thoroughfares in the City of Laurel, Montana, before such work may be started (i.e. street utility cuts for buried cable, electrical, telephone, cable TV and gas lines). A. Ail street and alley cuts will be backfilled with compacted 3/4" max. road mix gravel, MPW standard specs~ 3/4 max. "Grade B" Section 58C. Compaction shall meet 95% maximum density of AASNTO T99 Method C, or satisfactory to the City Engineer. Ail pavement cuts where asphalt surfacing is in place will be surfaced with 3" of compacted hot plant mix. Where eon- crete is in place, concrete for full depth of concrete paving will be replaced with concrete. Cuts for water and sewer will be backfilled with compacted 3/4 mix gravel, MPW standard specs, "Grade B" Section 58C. B. Ail excavated material from street cuts will be removed from city streets and alleys. C. Bonding requirements are a minimum of Two-Thousand Dollars ($2,000.00) each cut with additional bonding required for each additional cut and cuts larger than one block (300'). D. Fees for cuts will be: In alleys and unsurfaced streets five cents ($.05) per linear foot. Graded streets will be six cents ($.06) per foot. In paved streets ten cents ($.10) per foot. -1- Inspection fee will be thirty dollars ($BO.O0) for service connections in alleys and seventy-five dollars ($75.00 for street cut insp~dtion~ with an additional seventy-five dollars ($75.00) for each block {BO0') of additional line. E. Twenty~four (24} hours notice is required for all new construc- tion. There will be one-hundred dollars ($100.00} minimum fine for violations. Introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council on April 1 , 1980, by Alderman Ehrlick Passed by the Laurel City Council and approved by the Mayor this lstday of April , 1980.
