Linda Frickel, Judy Goldsby
Minutes for July 1, 2013 meeting were approved as submitted.
Norma Tade provided information on the Scobey Alumni Foundation Inc. (SAFI). She discussed
fund raising options the foundation uses, their progress and successes by concentrating on one
major project at a time. For anyone interested, SAFI has web sites detailing their activities.
Reports: Dean Rankin asked for a report on the cross walks and striping on SE 4` He was
advised that there was nothing scheduled with the city on this and Janice Lehman had been told
that the businesses would have to decide on parking and striping. Linda Frickel volunteered to
lead the project for trash receptacles on Main Street. Shirley McDermott volunteered to help.
Monica Plecker reported that the "brand" project may have a product by August. Judy was
advised by Mayor Olson that the monies for moving the light posts was no longer available.
Mayor Olson suggested the lights be placed in Firemans Park, and would attempt to get funding
for putting in three lights in Town Square
Board discussions and actions: Shirley McDermott said that with the board's permission, she
would invite Steve Zeier as our guest to our August 5 meeting. Steve is the TIF Coordinator for
the Billings Industrial Revitalization District (BIRD). BIRD is the property owners group within
EBURD.
Monica Plecker said that the Outlook would like to do a story on LURA's accomplishments. The
Board asked if we could get a list of accomplishments and copies of the TA and Facade
Improvements from High Plains Architectures. High Plains is behind in providing us reports and
we do need them for the Outlook story. The Board may be forced to look for another
architectural firm if we don't receive the reports in a timelier manner. Monica will get a list of
grants from Shirley Ewan, City Treasurer.
The City reviewed the plans for the Pizza Hut building to be located near Wal -Mart and Auto
Zone. Dean will contact property owners on Colorado Ave. between 4th and Railroad to set up a
SID for services and improvements. Canyon Creek Monument is in deplorable condition.
Lighting in Town Square is completed, and Laurel Revitalization League will submit a TA
application for assistance with costs of the lighting.
There were no facade or technical assistance grant applications submitted.
We'll continue to have 7:30 a.m. breakfast meetings.
Meeting was adjourned. Next meeting - August 5, 2013, 7:30 a.m., Owl Cafe meeting room
