HomeMy WebLinkAboutLibrary Board Minutes 07.12.2005 MINUTES OF THE LAUREL PUBLIC LIBRARY Board of Trustees July 12, 2005 Attending Margaret Freund(presiding), Katherine Kucera, Gail Brice, Clare Killebrew, Bruce McCullough, and Peggy Arnold attended the meeting Minutes The minutes of the June 14 meeting were read and approved. Correspondence Bruce McCullough has been appointed by Mayor Olson to a five year term on the library board. The term will expire June 30, 2010. Circulation Traffic for June 2005 was 2,011 down 4% from June 2004. Circulation for June 2005 was 3,578 down 11% from June 2004. Old Business We will plan a lunch for Bonnie Latham in August. Daniel Baney has received approval to use the library for his Eagle Scout Award. Registration for the summer reading program is up from last year and prizes will be awarded in August. Story time is going well with the Laurel Road Runner 4H members telling stories and doing simple crafts. Peggy Arnold and Katherine Kucera reported on the Montana State Library Summer Institute in Billings "Planning for Results ". Peggy will have a more definite plan to proceed with planning at the next meeting. We will set a date to meet with a core group to establish a Friends of the Library group in late August or early September. New Business Peggy mentioned that no health insurance was included in the budget for this year since she is on her husband's policy with the city. This or a portion of the insurance should be included in any future budgets, so that anyone who replaces her will have this option available in the budget. The Laurel Voice will be published in a few weeks and Peggy asked if there was anything the board wanted submitted. Election of officers was held with Margaret Freund elected as Chairperson, Gail Brice elected as vice Chairperson, and Katherine Kucera elected as Federation Advisory Board member. Mikki Taylor will be given a raise subject to a favorable evaluation. Time to Address the Board No one addressed the board. Next Meeting August 4,2005 at 6:30 p.m.
