BEING AN ORDINANCE DEFINING THE DUTIES OF THE DIRECTOR OF
PUBLIC WORKS AND ESTABLISHING PREREQUISITES THEREFORE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAUREL,
MONTANA THAT THERE IS HEREBY ADDED TO THE LAUREL MUNICIPAL
CODE SECTION 9~. 08. 135, AS FOLLOWS:
2.08. 135. Director of Public Works - - duties. The Director of
Public Works shall:
(a) Supervise operations of the City Engineer, Street Department,
Water System and Sewer System, Solid Waste and Garbage System, Shop
Operations, and Public Utilities Director.
(b) Will prepare budgets with cooperation of foremen for Street
Department, Water System and Sewer System, Solid Waste and Garbage
System, Shop Operations.
(c) Order equipment and supplies needed.
(d) Will work with city officials on projects to best utilize funds and
manpower.
(e) Approve scheduling of personnel and vacations.
(f) Serve on various appointed committees at the Mayor's and/or
Council's discretion.
(g) Prepare systems of maintenance management in cooperation with
foremen for all departments of the public works.
(h) Be registered in State as an engineer and shall have three (3) years
satisfactory experience in municipal engineering and three (3) years experience

in supervisory management o£ construction and/or maintenance of public
works.
(i) In the event there is no City Engineer, the Director of Public
Works will assume all duties of the City Engineer.
