Old Business
There had been no response from Lacey Lanaghan concerning the status of the Friends of the Library group.
Suzanne Reymer with the Montana State Library suggested that we concentrate on creating a new LPL Friends
group under the 501(c)(3) of the Laurel Public Library Foundation. She stated that we should make sure there are
by -laws in place to help with future accountability of the monies raised for the organization. After discussion, it
was decided to wait until the final approval of the Foundation by the IRS to restart the Friends group.
Bruce, Nancy and Alan attended a budget meeting with Mayor Olson, CAO Heidi Jensen, and Clerk/Treasurer
Shirley Ewan on March 27 Nancy reported that Heidi is suggesting to the City Council that we keep Patti
McGahan at 15 hours per week to continue helping with tech products. It was also suggested that the lighting in the
main part of the library needed to be upgraded. Nancy will get a couple of quotes from a couple local companies to
replace the lights in library. The quotes will be turned in to Shirley by May 1 to be included in the budget for
2013 -2014.
The idea of holding a book sale was discussed at length. It was decided that the Board members would host a sale
on May 16 17 & 18 as a fundraiser for the Library Foundation.
The bylaws for the Library Board will be looked at for updating in June to give everyone plenty of time to read
them and suggest corrections.
The Laurel Federated Women's Club held their annual play and egg hunt on Wednesday, March 27 at 1:00 pm.
We had 92 attendees, 31 adults and 61 children. The play was "The Tortoise and the Hare" as adapted by Rita
Morrissey.
