Minutes for February 2013 were presented, read, and approved.
Correspondence
Circulation Report
Traffic: down 2 %; circulation: all items circulated totaled 2,934 (including 142 eBooks), book circulation was down 6 %,
media circulation was down 27 %, eBook checkouts for this month was 5.7% of total book circulation; computers: internet
use was up 7 %, children's use was down 24 %, wi -fi use down 16 %; patron cards: NonRes patrons accounted for 10% of all
patrons, County patrons made up 24 %, and City patrons made up 66% of total count.
Old Business
A letter had been sent from Bruce McCullough to Lacey Lanaghan requesting clarification of their status as a Friends group.
It was decided that this discussion would be tabled until the April Board meeting. Nancy would contact Suzanne Reymer and
ask her what the next step should be concerning the Friends if we receive no response from the group.
Rose Marie, Dixie and Nancy met on February 28 at 1:00 pm to go over each line item in the Library budget. A budget
review meeting has been set for Wednesday, March 27 at 9:00 am with Mayor Olson, CAO Heidi Jensen, and
Clerk/Treasurer Shirley Ewan. Nancy invited Board members to attend the meeting with her if they feel so inclined.
A date for our next book sale will be set at the next Board meeting after we hear from the Friends group.
New Business
Nancy handed out copies of the current library by -laws with some changes highlighted. She asked that the Board review the
by -laws and changes so we can comment and/or adopt them with changes as presented.
Gloria Wester asked if the library would like to advertise in The Explorer magazine the Laurel Outlook prints each spring.
After some discussion about the benefits and drawbacks to advertising in this manner Alan motioned that the library NOT
advertise in The Explorer. Rose Marie seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Nancy reminded the Board that the Laurel Federated Women's Club Play and Egg Hunt would be Wednesday, March 27 at
1:00 pm. The play this year would be The Tortoise & The Hare (as adapted by Rita Morrissey).
Bruce motioned the Board meeting be adjourned, Alan seconded the motion. Meeting was adjourned at 7:05 pm.
