Water Intake:
Kurt explained that there are three options for the water intake. 1. Holding pond which would be a head
gate system. 2. Control the river. 3. Chase the river, which is what we have been doing. Kurt stated that
the bed rock is gone and the intake is not in the water in the winter time. The erosion needs to be
controlled. Kurt stated that there isn't any way to control erosion therefore there is no way to tell where to
put an intake in. An engineer suggested that a diversion be put in underneath the river, but this would
keep the fish from migrating. The project could cost $3 -5 million, but we have to wait until the engineers
give the city the final plans.
Striping downtown parking and crosswalks:
Kurt suggested that the city get bids from Mark Right Lines or Arrow Spraying to paint the parking lines
and crosswalks because the city does not have enough manpower to do it all. The crosswalks around the
schools are done every year and it takes the city worker about 2 to 3 days to complete. Kurt stated that the
crosswalks and the parking lines downtown have not been repainted since 2007. The city has also
considered Thermo Plastic painting, as this procedure lasst longer than regular painting. Kurt suggested
proposing a five -year plan for striping and crosswalk painting, and each year rotating to a different
location.
Chuck Dickerson made a motion to allow Kurt to make up a 5 -year plan for striping and crosswalk
painting. Chuck Rodgers seconded the motion. All in favor 4. Opposed 0.
Other:
The valves, waterlines and fire hydrants need to be replaced in the Alder Ridge Subdivision. Some of the j
valves have been replaced and replacement will continue throughout the summer.
