Board Meeting Minutes
The Meeting was held on April 18 at the Laurel Chamber log cabin. We ordered from Red Neck Pizza.
In attendance were: Executive Board Members: President - John Mataisz, VP- Jared Kaiser, Co-VP - Angela
Klein- Hughes, Secretary Joanne Flynn.. Directors: Clyde Barton, Janelle Crowley, Michelle DeBoer, Dr. Ed
Madrid, Jennifer Ries, and Alternate Joe Statser. Members: Renee Studiner, Dan Dart, Beth Hofferber and
Phyllis Bromgard and Chamber assistant Mara Hafner.
John called the meeting to order.
The minutes were approved: moved to approve - Jared, 2" - Clyde. Passed
The finandal report was approved and bills were presented for payment: moved to approve - Angela, 2" -
Ed. Passed
NEW BUSINESS
• New Members - (March) O'Reily's Auto, MasterLube, Big Jakes BBQ and (April) River
Ridge Landscaping and Cornerstone Plumbing & Heating.
• New Board Member Needed - LuAnne is retiring. Emails were sent out for nominations.
Dan Dart was nominated. It was voted that he be accepted as the new board member.
• Visitors Guides - The brochures have been delivered to most businesses and the new
stands have been ordered and received.
• Insurance - Dan Dart's bid for the building insurance came in at $533, much lower than
the current $818. Dan presented some of the basic differences in the policies. It was
voted that we accept his proposal for the Cabin Insurance. He is also working on a bid for
the event insurance for the July 4 celebration.
• Ribbon Cuttings - This Friday we have a ribbon cutting for O'Reily's Auto Parts at noon.
On May 6 there is one for MasterLube at noon.
OLD BUSINESS
• Spotlight on Business - Always looking for new.
• July 4th Committee - The committee will meet again next week and send all
recommendations to the board for an email vote. Joanne brought up that our local police
did not have the man power to police the event. Dan suggested maybe the highway patrol
could help. Joanne will look into it.
• Open /Close sign - An open sign will be on the door when the office is staffed. We cannot
put a closed sign up though, because we have the entry alcove with the visitor information
that is always open.
OPEN FORUM
• Report on Conference - Marcia reported on the MT Office of Tourism Conference she
attended. She gave a brief summary of the sessions and will send an outline to everyone.
The main direction seemed to be making the web site accessible to mobile devices. Marcia
was authorized to look into the cost of doing so. Moved by Joe -2n Angela. Passed.
• LURA - Marcia reported that they were also looking into "branding" for the Laurel City.
This should tie in with the Office of Tourism "Step Out of Bounds" Brand. She also reported
that they were looking at setting up some lights in Town Square. Another of our member
businesses, Cornerstone Plumbing & Heating, has received the Technical Assistance grant.
• Lunch & Learn - The winner of the Windows 8 software was Jamie Christianson and
Aaron Christianson won the Office 13 Software.
• Thank You- We received a Thank you from the school district for our recent donation.
• Lions Club - Looking for new, younger members.
• WalMart - This Saturday is the opening of the Garden Center with a BBQ and Petting Zoo.

• New Pricing - recommended new pricing as follows; Members $20 - Non - members $35 - Organizations
and Individuals $20 - Class Reunions $20 - Auto Clubs (5 autos) $35
• Letter to residents and businesses (attached) will be delivered and an article will be in the Outlook
• Parade Rules - Attached

Other July 4 Info
• NO Parkins signs on Colarado, 1s Street and 1s` Ave up to 9 Ave have been approved by
the city and the state DOT.
• Printing of signs -suggested size 11x17 laminated. Joanne has bids coming in from Outlook and
Office Depot
• Jennifer /Outlook - What do we want in the first article? (Suggestion - No Parking /letter to residents)
Committee will meet on May 22n at the cabin at 5:30
• Event Insurance Application has been sent to Westem States
Ribbon Cuttings - Tonight at Fichtners at- Open House by invitation at 7:00 to 8:30
