AMENDING SECTION 13.04.130, WATER DEPOSITS
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Laurel, that
Section 13.04.130 of the Laurel Municipal Code is amended to
read as follows:
Section 13.04.130 Water Service
1. Deposit No person shall be allowed services for water from
the City without first depositing with the City Water Depart-
ment Twenty-five and no/lO0 Dollars ($25.00), unless a
previous deposit has been refunded to such person for service
at another address in the City of Laurel and the person would
still otherwise qualify for a refund under subsection 3 below~
Interest on Deposits Interest on deposits held shall be
accrued at the rate of six percent (6%) per annum. Interest
shall be computed from the time of deposit to the time of
refund or of termination.
Refunds Deposits plus accrued interest shall be refunded
when the customer has for twelve (12) consecutive months
paid for service when due in a prompt and satisfactory manner
and has not appeared on the Delinquent Water List under
Section 13.04.120.
Upon termination of service the City shall return to the
customer the amount of deposit plus accrued interest less
any amount due the City by the customer for service rendered.
Record of Deposit The City shall maintain a record of all
deposits received from customers, showing the name of each
depositor, the date and amount of the deposit made, the
location of the premises occupied by the depositor at the
time of making the deposit, and each successive location
while the deposit is retained.
Each customer posting a cash deposit shall receive in writing
at the time of tender of the deposit a receipt as evidence
thereof.
The City shall provide means whereby a customer entitled
to a return of his deposit is not deprived of deposit funds
even though he may be unable to produce the original receipt
for the deposit. In such event City records shall be con-
trolling.
Upon passage of this ordinance,
