ADDING SECTION 10.68.039 TO THE LAUREL
MUNICIPAL CODE, PLACING LEGAL RESPONSIBILITY
FOR PARKING VIOLATIONS ON VEHICLE OWNERS
BE IT ORDAINED by the Council of the City of Laurel, Mon-
tana, that Section 10.68.039 is hereby added to the Laurel Munic-
ipal Code, as follows:
10.68.039 Responsibility of Owners. A. Every person in
whose name a vehicle is registered or licensed shall be legally
responsible and subject to citation for any parking of such ve-
hicle in violation of any of the provisions of this chapter.
B. It shall be no defense to such charge that such ve-
hicle was illegally parked by another unless it is shown that, at
such time, the vehicle was being used without the consent of the
registered (licensed) owner thereof.
C. The express legislative purpose hereunder is to im-
pose absolute liability upon the registered or licensed owners of
vehicles for any violations of any of the provisions of this
chapter, pursuant to Section 45-2-104 M.C.A.
Introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council on
April 17 , 1984, by Alderman Kellogg
PASSED by the Laurel City Council and APPROVED by the
Mayor this 1st day of May , 1984.
This ordinance shall become effective thirty days after
final passage by the Laurel City Council.
