Present: Charlie Pratt, Dirk Kroll, Rick Musson, Steve Wegner, Jim Stevens, Ken Olson, Jan
Stanford, Dave Gauslow
Chief Musson reported to the committee on the evaluation done by Tom Crockett and stated that
this is a good opportunity for the police department and council to be part of a joint effort in
setting a positive direction.
Charlie Pratt brought up the issue of police authority and the high school parking lot. Chief
Musson explained that ifa violation occurs, the police department would respond as well as
patrolling the area for the safekeeping and security of vehicles. Charlie also stated the area of 12th
St. and 6m Ave. has been the site of some speeding. Chief Musson said he would look into it.
Chief Stevens reported on the LVFD bidding for and getting the Montana State Volunteer Fire
Convention in 2002. Jim also stated that he would like to have a meeting with Bob Worthington
of the MMIA. Dirk Kroll said he could help set this up. Jim reported on a 10,000 gallon
reservoir being bulk by Nature's Crack at Rimrock Vista for a static water source to be used in
fire suppression.
Ambulance Director Jan Stanford informed the group that an EMT class would be available in
September. Ken asked Jan if she could have policy and procedure manuals ready after the
Fourtk Jan said she could start then and have some of the protocols by then also.
Discussion on mutual aid with Molt was held. Jan stated that Molt had received mutual aid from
AMR and Columbus. The committee had a question of liability that Jan could not answer and she
said she would look into that. Discussion on mutual aid contracts came up and Jim said he would
look into mutual aid contracts and get back to the committee.
