Correspondence
A donation in the amount of $250.00 was received from Heath Billingsley for our "Finnigan Fund" to
help with costs associated with keeping our fish.
Carol Blades gave us a copy of a letter she sent to Mayor Olson voicing her support of Patti McGahan's
position at the library. Carol expressed the need for this continued service to our community as a way to
help "level the playing field" for everyone.

Old Business
No update on the Library Foundation at this time.
Dixie and Alan reported on the training topics at the Trustee training in Billings. They stated that there
were some very ideas presented on how to deal with Friends groups if problems arise and to invite
Council members to our library so they have a better idea what we have to offer the community. The
Montana State Library has informational signs that are available to libraries that want them. Nancy will
contact the State Library to ask for a couple signs for Laurel.
New Business
Federation Coordinator position was discussed. Nancy reported that Heidi Jensen has given her okay for
this to be done through Laurel. The Board agreed that this should be offered to the Federation at the next
meeting in Big Timber in March 2013.
Nancy stated that she would like to close the library at 2:00 pm on Christmas Eve so staff can attend
evening services if they choose to do so and 2:00 pm on New Years' Eve for anyone attending
celebrations. There was no dissention among the Board members. The library would be closed on both
Christmas Day and New Years' Day.
Other
Nancy announced that the shelves would be moved during a staff work day on Friday, December 14 if
anyone is interested in helping. It will take some serious muscle to move the long bookshelf in the YA/Sci
Fi section.
For the first time in many years Santa would be arriving at the library on Saturday, December 22n at
11:00 am. There will be an announcement put into the Laurel Outlook and on the library
website/Facebook pages.
