To Montana City Councils and Boards of County Commissioners:
It is my pleasure to present the State of Montana's 2002-2003 Information Technology Plan. This
report results from the efforts of the State's information technology professionals. It describes the
State's achievements for the past biennium as well as our goals for the next biennium and how we
intend to utilize computer hardware, software, telecommunications, and networks to address the
needs of state government and Montana's citizens.
Our theme, 'Remaking the Face of Government", focuses on the ever growing impact that
information technology is having on how people and businesses access their government. In
these first years of the new millennium, we are taking great steps forward in providing faster,
more efficient services to our citizens. Advances such as the State's new e-government portal will
bring government to the people rather than citizens having to travel to conduct everyday business
with their government.
We hope you will take the time to review this publication and share your comments with us.
