Dear Laurel Chamber of Commerce Member:
As of January 1, 2001, there will be three positions open on the Laurel Chamber of Commerce Board of
Directors. To date, there are four nominations to fill these positions. These nominees are:
• Candi Cetvoski - First Citizens Bank - Jan's IGA Branch
• Rhonda Diefenderfer - Laurel Federal Credit Union
• Don Meyers - Montana Dakota Utilities
• Debbie Ricci - Ricci's Thriftway (Debbie is currently serving on the Board of Directors and her term
will be done as of January 1, 2001, and she would like to serve another 3-year term.)
Nominations for President:
• Gary Franklin, current Vice President
Nominations for Vice President are: (These nominees currently are serving on the Board of Directors.)
• Sheryl Brester - Cenex Harvest States Cooperatives
• Ryan Burrows - Edward Jones Investments
If you would like to nominate others for any of these positions, you may do so by sending the names of
your nominees with five signatures from current Chamber members within ten days of this letter. If new
nominees are received, ballots will be sent out with these additional names to each voting member of the
Laurel Chamber of Commerce.
The retiring members of the Laurel Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors have devoted a great deal of
their time and support to the community and to the Chamber. As volunteers, they have worked behind the
scenes to not only keep the Chamber going, but also have worked to help strengthen the economy of our
community. These retiring members are: Jim Taylor - Yellowstone Bank and Don Smarsh - Dynamic
Designs.
Currently, these directors are serving terms on the Board and will do so for the remainder of their terms:
• Linda Wedel - Prudential Floberg Realtors
• Jim Schroeder - SEG Federal Credit Union
• Bob Wiens - First Citizens Bank
• Bryan Wood - Wood's Pow'r Grip
• Bob O'Dea - Yellowstone Bank (Bob replaced Ty Elkin when Ty moved to Billings.)
• Mike Nardella, current President will serve as Past President
After the 10-day notice expires, you will receive a ballot in the mail for your vote on the nominations. If
more information is needed, please do not hesitate to contact the office at 628-8105.

Enclosed you will find an entry form for the Distinguished Service Awards nominations. The Laurel
Chamber of Commerce will choose a winner in each of the five categories and will present this winner with
an award at the Distinguished Service Awards Banquet January 15, 2000. Judging is done on a point basis
after all nominations are received. The categories are: Employee of the Year, Boss or Manager of the
Year, Special Service Award. Public Official of the Year, Business Person of the Year, and Lifetime
Achievement Award.
Is there someone special out there that you feel needs to be recognized for their special efforts? Do you
have an employee or do you work with someone who makes it a pleasure to be at the job? Do you have a
boss or a manager that is caring, kind and considerate? Is there a special person in your organization or
club that contributes or volunteers for all of the tasks that no one else would? Is there a police officer,
postal worker, teacher, principal, or any other type of public official that has contributed to the good of
Laurel above and beyond what is expected of them? Is there someone who owns a business that
contributes to Laurel just for the sake of making Laurel a better place to live? If you know people who fit
any or all of these categories, we would like to hear from you.
Enclosed you will find a nomination form. Feel free to photocopy this form and enter as many people as
you wish. You may also want to make extra copies of the form to give to your employees or friends for
their nominations. Deadline for nominations is December 31, 2000. Nomination forms can be dropped off
at the office at 108 East Main. faxed to the office at 628-2041.or mailed to:

There will be a banquet held on January 15, 2000, at St. Anthony's Parish Hall in order to give out these
awards. Social hour will be at 6:00 p.m., dinner and awards will begin at 7:00 p.m. The Laurel Chamber
of Commerce, Laurel Jaycees and the Laurel Women In Business will be presenting awards at this banquet.

(Circle the category that your nominee fits into. Some nominees fit into more than one

Emulovee of the Year: Contribution to the business or employer, contribution to fellow
employees or co-workers, contribution to special customer service, or contribution to the
general community. (Your nomination could include but not be limited to an outstanding
employee who has served an area business or organization above and beyond the call of
duty, someone who may be considered a positive co-worker, motivator, or a leader in
their field, or those who have excelled in their job duties.)
Boss or Manager of the Year: Contribution to a business or employer, contribution to
fellow employees, contribution to customers, or contribution to the community. (We
recommend that your nomination be someone who is in a management or supervisory
capacity including but not limited to owner, co-owner, or employed management
personnel.)
Public Official of the Year: Contribution to the office in which they serve, contribution
to the community, or contribution to the public directly served by their position.
(Consideration of your nomination may include, but not be limited to the city
government, educational system individuals or officials either elected, appointed, or
employed where their position includes some aspect of administrative duties.)
Business Person of the Year: Contribution to the community and/or business market as
a whole, contribution to their employees, or contribution to their customers. (Your
nomination could include owners or co-owners in the wholesale, manufacturing, retail,
food and beverage business, as well as legal, professional, or service businesses,
including financial institutions, auto dealerships, etc.)
Sneciai Service Award: Contribution to the community, or their organization or group
(if any). (Your nomination could not only include those belonging to an organization or
club, but may include anyone who has served the community in any form.)
Lifetime Achievement Award: Contribution to the community over a period of many
years and has devoted much of their life making the community a better place to live or
has tried to make a difference in the lives of the people around them.
Please give a summary and a brief reason why your nominee should be selected
based on their contribution. The back of this sheet or a separate sheet may be used.
