CITY HA-LL MEMBERS PRESENT: OTHERS PRESENT: CHAIRMAN- Donna Kilpatrick Gay Easton Ron Marshall Don Hackmann ChuckRodgers Dave Michael Purchase requisitions were approved as follows: General Fund Street marking paint and cleaner Water Fund 3/4" corp stops and curb boxes 50 bags of sodium silicofluoride 120 135W light bulbs Sewer Fund Two plug valves Solid Waste Fund Soil test analysis for container site construction Quick lift hydraulic fluid $ 322.00 427.00 950.00 513.00 998.00 205.00 220.00 The Auditor's recommended that the City establish a policy for writing off uncollectible accounts. Discussion regarding the water fund. It was recommended that a procedure be written in to the rules and regulations when the next water rate goes into effect. A procedure for writing off ambulance uncollectible accounts will be reviewed at a later date. Discussion regarding a bill sent to Mike Kirschenmann for ambulance training which he did not complete. The City paid for it, but since he did not complete the course, the City billed him for $62.50. Due to a change in his work schedule at his regular full time job he was unable to complete the course. Because of the circumstances at control, the committee recommends (see attached letter) his job, which was not to charge Mike The meeting was adjourned at 4:46 p.m. beyond his the $62.50. LAUREL, MT. 59044 TO ALL CONCERNED: THIS IS TO INFORM YOU, EFFECTIVE 'IMMEDIATELY I NO LONGER WILL BE WORKING WITH THE LAUREL VOLUNTEER AMBULANCE. AFTER TALKING WITH THE DIRECTOR, SUE BLASKOVICH, AND ADVISING HER THAT DUE TO MY JOB SITUATION I WOULD BE UNABLE TO COMPLETE THE EMT COURSE THAT WAS BEING OFFERED, I RECEIVED A BILL FROM THE CITY FOR 62 DOLLARS AND 50 CENTS. I HAD BEEN TOLD THAT IF I CONTINUED WITH THE AMBULANCE, THAT THE COURSE WOULD BE PAID FOR. I SPOKE WITH BLASKOVICH ON APRIL 18TH AND TOLD HER THAT I WAS NOT EXACTLY SURE WHAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN AT THIS TIME. SHE ASKED IF I WOULD BE ABLE TO KEEP MY FIRST RESPONDER CERTIFICATE AND I TOLD HER THAT I HAD EVERY INTENTION OF KEEPING IT, I JUST COULD NOT CONTINUE WITH THE EMT COURSE AS OF YET DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES AT WORK BEYOND MY CONTROL. MY JOB DOES COME FIRST. I TOLD HER THAT I WOULD GET BACK TO HER AS SOON AS I KNEW WHAT WAS HAPPENING. THE NEXT DAY I RECEIVED THE BILL. NEEDLESS TO SAY, I FEEL IT IS VERY UNJUST TO BILL ME WHEN I AM STILL DONATING MY TIME TO THE SERVICE. OVER THE LAST FIVE YEARS, I HAVE DONATED NUMEROUS HOURS TO THE AMBULANCE SERVICE BY RESPONDING WHEN THERE WAS NO OTHER ATTENDANT AVAILABLE. I DROVE AS WELL AS GAVE FIRST AID. MANY, MANY TIMES I DID NOT RECEIVE ANY COMPENSATION FOR MY TIME. IF THIS IS THE WAY THAT BLASKOVICH AND THE CITY WISH TO REPAY, ME FOR MY TIME , THAN I HAVE NO DESIRE TO CONTINUE TO GIVE MY SERVICES TO THEM. I HAVE ENJOYED OVER THE YEARS, BEING ABLE TO WORK WITH A GREAT CREW AND PROVIDING EMERGENCY CARE FOR THE CITIZENS OF LAUREL SO IT IS WITH GREAT SORROW THAT I FEEL I NEED TO SEND THIS LETTER.
