MAIN STREET Members present: Shirley McDermott, Linda Frickel, Dean Rankin, Judy Goldby, Daniel Klein Advisors present: Aletta Zimmerman, Steve A. -Big Sky Rep., Janice Lehman Others present: Bill Kampfer, Heidi Jenson, Monica Plecker, Ken Olson, Greg Krueger, Marsha Haffner Minutes approved as presented Greg talked about growth in downtown Billings, didn't go fast, they tried to get any urban renewal project approved, try to bill second floor of buildings, need to have nor more than 10% chain stores, good commercial business needs residential near by, any empty building is blight, they doubled the tax base of 10 years, started a mew TIF over the old one, they set up associations to stand together for urban renewal, their next meeting is October 2013 They involved Architects & Engineers to create Tech Assistance, Ask business what is keeping them from downtown. Loan fund was set up for $2.6 million and banks took share with commercial loans. City council made 1% on each loan Look at property taxable values as they may not be correct. Build a relationship with RR but know they don't take risks. Make a contact with Brian Riley who now lives in Billings. Target new & existing business for TIF growth. Big Sky EDA was a big help with the revolving loan fund Heidi thinking of a part-time employee to share with Big Sky. There are 100 new kids in Laurel schools this year Steve will have a couple of meeting with BNSF to have them meet with LURA. Now 28 there is a meeting to discuss developing an industrial park in the county. Big Sky looking to apply for grants Monica has an app for facade improvement from the Chevy dealer that will be the max of $5,000. There was a motion to approve the $5,000 for the facade improvement and we are suggesting they look at technical assistance and a sign Dan and Dean's terms need to be renewed for another 4 years The gym floor has raised about %57,000 with matching funds starting too kick in May 2013 is Aviation career month Fireman's Park is developing a Memorial fund, we need to see if we can donate in some way The movie theatre is up for sale and is running the sale themselves. Next meeting is December 17, 2012
