HomeMy WebLinkAboutLease Task Force Minutes 10.01.2012 Lease Taskforce
October 1, 2012
Present: Mayor Olson, Bill Mountsier, Bruce McGee, Iry Wilke
Discussion started at 6:39
Mayor Olson opened the discussion by introducing two distinct tasks the group must work to achieve at the meeting.
1. Lease
2. Timeframe for settling the lease
The group decided they would meet regularly on Wednesdays at 6:30 until all lease issues are resolved. The next
meeting will be held Wednesday, October 10 at 6:30.
The Mayor suggested topics be addressed over the course of the next few meetings. Only 2 -3 topics will be discussed at
each meeting to make sure that the proper time and attention has been given to each issue. The topics of discussion are
as follows:
1. Complete Fencing
2. Proper Signage
3. Area Security
4. Membership and Use
5. Alcohol
6. Protocol Considerations
7. Accountability
8. Annexation
9. Confirmation of Protocol for Insurance Carrier (MMIA)
10. (Legal Counsel)
Bruce suggested adding Legal Counsel to the list.
The Mayor also wanted to call attention to an email sent out by a member of the Rod and Gun club regarding alcohol on
the premises. Iry Wilke responded by sharing his observations of people shooting and then going inside to purchase
beer. Iry does not want the perception to be that the rod and gun club drink alcohol while shooting.
The Mayor responded by saying that when the topic arises a strict "zero tolerance" alcohol policy would be a condition
of the lease. Iry asked about the trap shooting competition and the joint membership party. The Mayor responded that
accountability is imperative in moving forward. The group agreed that there should be a zero tolerance alcohol policy to
ensure the safety of all who enjoy the park.
The Mayor stated that MMIA will be in attendance at a taskforce meeting and said that he would ask for their protocols
for other high risk areas.
General discussion regarding the fencing, access, the posting of rules and range officers and safety took place. The group
agreed these topics would be discussed in depth in the upcoming meetings.
The Mayor called the meeting to a close. The group was reminded the next meeting would be held on October 10. The
first three items on the list will be of topic.
