Minutes
Minutes from February and March were read and approved.
Correspondence
Library received a donation from Jim Foley in the amount of $20 along with 88 paperback books to be used
where the library felt they would benefit the most.
Circulation Report
Traffic: down 6.1 %; circulation: all items circulated totaled 3,000, book circulation was down 29.5 %,
media circulation was down 32 %; computers: internet use was up 25 %, children's use was up 81.5 %,
wi -fi use down 9 %; patron cards: City patrons make up 82.5% of the total library patrons registered,
County patrons totaled 8.9% & Non - County patrons accounted for 8.6% of our patron totals.
Old Business
Nathan reported on the progress of the Foundation development. The organization at MSU- Billings
was not ready to help with the creation of our Foundation at this time. Nancy stated that she and
Nathan would meet to discuss the next step after classes are finished for the semester.
MontanaLibrary2Go went live for Laurel Public Library on March 15 E -Books would be listed in the
general catalog search for those patrons that already have their e- reader devices. Books can be
"borrowed" from home.
No information to report on the budget yet.
New Business
Since Patti is being asked to attend as part of the BTOP panel, Nancy stated that she has asked Patti to attend
one other session at the conference that is being offered on the same day as Patti's panel discussion entitled
"How Friendly To Be With Your Friends ". The information that Patti brings back will be turned over to Darlene
Enriques to share with the Friends of the Laurel Public Library.
Darlene Enriques came to the Board meeting to present information about the new Friends group and requested
permission to hold a book sale for the Friends at the library May 1 l & 12` Darlene also asked the Board to
approve purchases of items that Nancy gave to her for the Friends. Discussion followed. Bruce motioned that we
allow the book sale to take place on May 11 & May 12, 2012 & that the money be turned over to the library.
Nathan amended the motion to: books should be turned over to Friends of the Library but that 100% of funds be
spent on library wish list. Nathan also stated that books should revert back to library ownership. Clair seconded
the motion as corrected by Nathan. Motion passed. Dixie motioned that purchase of book return with cart and
other items listed on wish list be approved if money allowed. Clair seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Trustee training will be held in Billings at Parmly Billings Library on May 12, 2012 if anyone is interested in
attending.
Other
Nancy asked that the revised minutes from December 2011 be approved. Minutes were approved as represented.
Laurel Women in Business presented their annual Easter Play & Egg Hunt on Wednesday, April 8, 2012. The
event was attended by 21 adults and 54 children.
