HomeMy WebLinkAboutPark Board Minutes 06.07.2012 City of Laurel Park Board Minutes Thursday, June 7, 2012 The Park Board meeting was brought to order at 5:36pm. In attendance were: Chairman, Mark Mace, and Park Board members Gretchen Paulson, Amy Pollock, Bruce McGee, and Chuck Dickerson. 1. No public comments regarding parks at this time. 2. Donation of park land on W. 12th St. from the Richmond Family Trust. Mark will look into having the Laurel Outlook print a Thank you to the Richmond Family for donating that land to the city to be used as park land. It was also discussed there should be progress with the land soon. This improvement will show the family and citizens that the city appreciates the land donation. Chuck suggested the fire department should burn the weeds and overgrowth as they have done in previous years to make a good start. The fire department could use the control burn for training purposes. The Park Board recommends to the Mayor and City Council to request the Laurel Fire Department to do a control burn of the weeds in the recently donated park land on W. 12th St. 3. Other items: Motion made by Mark Mace to request 4 items from the Public Works Director: 1. The costs/budget for developing the current city parks; 2.Maintenance costs of current city parks; 3. Cemetery Maintenance costs; 4. Park priority development plan for the Park Board to follow up. This motion was seconded by Amy. This motion will allow the Park Board to follow up on city park development and help us determine an appropriate Park Maintenance District plan. Park Board requests consistent updates on the Elena Subdivision Park development from Monica Plecker. This update should be provided before the Park Boards monthly meeting, the first Thursday of each month. Park Board requests information update from Public Works regarding Lions Park water line addition. Has the city informed Lions President to request city approval prior to making additions to the city park? The Park Board Meeting adjourned at 6:23pm. Submitted by Gretchen Paulson, Park Board Member.
