Others present: Bill Kampfer, Monica Plecker, Heidi Jensen, Linda Frickel, Ken Olson,
Shirley Ewen
Minutes approved as presented
Linda said Rock the Block was cancelled May 18 due to rain. Rock the Block will be
held Jun 8 & 22
Monica — look at TIF workshop, marketing and other programs, a Business Improvement
District (BID) for downtown which could deal with care of plants, sidewalk cleaning,
trash cans, bike police, Alive After 5, installing Christmas decorations, etc. There would
be a special tax that could handle such program which would take a 60 to 65% approval
Shirley E says we have a $291,669 balance. Railroad Street should be coming under city
control for speed and repair control. The lease with the railroad is moving forward to
allow us to consider parking, trees, a bus stop and other ideas on south Main Street
Other topics include the collapsing building next to the elevator, Gary Croft will sign a
lease for the mural and awning. Lights are in the works and Ace Electric should have the
cost to move and install by June 4. Dirk Frickel will provide a letter to resign as a voting
member since his new job doesn't allow time for him to attend meetings. This will allow
Linda to take his place
There are two applications for facade improvement. Monica will present a letter
explaining where money is coming from for the awning so LURA can know how much is
still needed to pay for the project
The next meeting is June 4, 2012
