MAIN STREET Members present:: Shirley McDermott, Daniel Klein, Judy Goldsby Advisors present: Others present: Bill Kampfer, Monica Plecker, Heidi Jensen, Linda Frickel, Ken Olson, Shirley Ewen Minutes approved as presented Linda said Rock the Block was cancelled May 18 due to rain. Rock the Block will be held Jun 8 & 22 Monica — look at TIF workshop, marketing and other programs, a Business Improvement District (BID) for downtown which could deal with care of plants, sidewalk cleaning, trash cans, bike police, Alive After 5, installing Christmas decorations, etc. There would be a special tax that could handle such program which would take a 60 to 65% approval Shirley E says we have a $291,669 balance. Railroad Street should be coming under city control for speed and repair control. The lease with the railroad is moving forward to allow us to consider parking, trees, a bus stop and other ideas on south Main Street Other topics include the collapsing building next to the elevator, Gary Croft will sign a lease for the mural and awning. Lights are in the works and Ace Electric should have the cost to move and install by June 4. Dirk Frickel will provide a letter to resign as a voting member since his new job doesn't allow time for him to attend meetings. This will allow Linda to take his place There are two applications for facade improvement. Monica will present a letter explaining where money is coming from for the awning so LURA can know how much is still needed to pay for the project The next meeting is June 4, 2012
