Board Meeting Minutes
April 26 2012
The Meeting was held on April 26th at Emma's. In attendance were: Executive Board Members: President
- John Mataisz, Secretary Joanne Flynn and her assistant Marcia Hafner. Directors: Bryan Wood, Jodi
Chapman, Libby Erb, Michelle DeBoer, and Heidi Jensen. Members: Renee Studiner, Clyde Barton, Ed &
Martha Madrid, Zada Stamper and Tammy Martinson. Also in attendance was Mayor Ken Olson.
John called the meeting to order.
The minutes were approved: moved to approve - Libby, 2' - Zada.
The finandal report was approved and bills were presented for payment: moved to approve - Ubb, 2" -
Renee.
NEW BUSINESS
• New Members - Wellness Possibilities
• July 4 - Run registration is up and running. If you are not a run sponsor, please
consider doing so.
o Need - Theme for parade - Spirit of Laurel was voted on by a show of hands.
o Grand Marshal /s - People brought up the Dodgers, We the People kids, and the
originators of Laurel Home Town Troops. No decision was made.
o Height limit for floats - Lumpy is checking it out for us.
o Request to City - The request has been granted.
• Ribbon Cutting - Ed's Barber Shop after May 10 meeting.
OLD BUSINESS
• Spotlight on Business - Always looking for new. We are waiting for Covert Cleaning to
be published.
• Repair the Sign - Waiting for an estimate from Magnum Development. It was also
mentioned that the members would like a sample picture and name of product.
• Business after Hours -
o Tonight - Crossings & Northland Corrosion hosting.
o May 24 - Ace Hardware & Pitts Pizza hosting.
o June 21 - Woods Pow'r Grip & Laurel Schools hosting.
o July - ?
o August - ?
OPEN FORUM
• Putt Around Town - The Crossings event will be June 16 Half of the proceeds will go
to the High School Gym Floor fund.
• Ace Hardware - On May 12 Ace Hardware will donate 10% of the total receipts to the
HS Gym Floor fund.
• Aviation Week - The Kick -off Breakfast will be May 18 at 8:30.
• Laurel Downtown Farmers Market - Ed brought up that during the Farmers Market
cars continually block their cars and once his car was hit by someone. We need loading
zone signs for the alleys and maybe a police presence for a while. All vendors are told not
to block the alleys, but....
