HomeMy WebLinkAboutPark Board Minutes 04.04.2024THURSDAY, APRIL ,2024 5:30 y Public Input: Citizens may address the committee regarding any item of business that is not on the agenda. The duration for an individual speaking under Public Input is limited to three minutes. While all comments are welcome, the committee will not take action on any item not on the agenda. The meeting was called to order at 5:33 by Jon Rutt. In attendance were Richard Klose, Paul Kober, Phyllis Bromgard, Torn Canape, and Evan Bruce. Matt Wheeler was in attendance and Council Person Michelle Mize was observing. Iry Wilke arrived after the meeting started. No Visitors LPB Minutes March 7, 2024 — Richard Klose moved and Evan Bruce 2°d a motion to approve the minutes. Motion passed. New Business 2. Kiwanis Park Irrigation — Will be a budget item for next year and has support of the City Council. Old Business 3. Other parks in Laurel — Splash -park is under construction and expected to be finished by the end of April. Old tennis courts have been covered and will be hydroseeded and an irrigation system added. Arbor Day is on May 7" at Kiwanis Park to plant 3 trees. Baseball at the high school has not been approved yet for the American Legion Field in Thompson Park. Some discussion followed. 6 new light poles are being installed at the Legion Field. The poles and installation were donated by Northwestern Energy. 4. American Legion Building at Riverside Park—Nothing New reported. 5. Riverside Park - Lead cleanup —Not enough lead to recover. Waiting for a report to submit to the health department for determination of safety. 6. Riverside Park - New Building — Nothing New 7. Lions Club agreement for the old Jaycee Hall — Done deal. Lion's Club is cleaning up and looking at improvements. 8. Concrete Social Activities for Parks — Tabled in City Council, but can proceed with approval of Public Works. 9. Lighting at Russell Parks — Done and operating. 10. Tennis Court uses and status — A committee is being formed by an outside group to raise fund to build new courts at Kiwanis Park. Other Items New license plates are available and selling. Some discussion on the Parks budget for next year.
