AN ORDINANCE CREATING THE OFFICE OF
CLERK OF COURT
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Laurel:
Section 3-11-206 (2) (b), MCA, provides for the creation
of the office of Clerk of the City Court.
Section 1 There is hereby created the office of
City Clerk of Court. The Clerk of Court shall be appointed
by the City Judge.
It shall be the duty of the Clerk of Court
duties as required by law and the rules of the

City Court.
Section 3
Before entering upon the duties of office,
the Clerk of Court shall take the oath prescribed by law
for all City officers.
Section 4 The Clerk of Court's term of office shall
be the same as is provided by law and ordinance for the City
Judge, and until a successor is appointed.
Section 5 The Clerk of Court may certify any records
or documents of the City Court and may act for the City Court
as permitted by law or rules of the City Court.
Section 6 The salary of the Clerk of Court shall be
set by Resolution of the City Council.
Section 7. The Clerk of Court is a part-time position
limited to 15 hours a week.
Introduced at a regular meeting of the City Council
on November 6, 1985, by Alderman Meyers.
Passed by the Laurel City Council and approved by the
Mayor this 19th day of November, 1985.
This Ordinance shall become effective 30 days after
final passage by the Laurel City Council.
