MAIN STREET Members present: Shirley McDermott, Dean Rankin, Daniel Klein, Dirk Frickel Advisors present: Steve Arveschong, Aletta Zimmerman, Janice Lehman Others present: Bill Kampfer, Heidi Jensen, Shirley Ewan, Linda Frickel, Ken Olson, Bruce McGee Minutes from December were approved as submitted. Elizabeth Decker has officially resigned Linda say Laurel Alive will have a meeting in February. The Chamber Annual meeting will be help at the golf course on Thursday. Linda will be going off the Chamber as well as Dean. Steve is trying to get someone to permanently fill his advisory position. LURA is trying to move Aletta from an advisor to a voting member. Heidi says the city has hired Monica Plecker from Virginia as the new city planner to start 2 -1 -12. Her specialty is long range planning while Heidi will continue with short term planning and updating the code book Shirley Ewan says the 1 /2 year taxes show LURA will receive about $160,990 to take our balance to approx. $413,880 with $186,00 going to the sewer project. The sidewalk project is waiting for the final design ok. There will be 22 trees of which DNRC will pay for 10. The state will pay for the metal grates and silos At the next meeting we need to discuss the next 5 years of possible ideas to work on. Possibly look at using a consultant as a facilitator to draw out ideas and plans then present a write up. Pending approval on applications for 305 S. 1st Ave for a new pharmacy. The need paint and new sign 413 & 415 S. 4th ave. looking at new signs and facade. A motion was made to accept and approve the applications submitted by the committee on all 3 projects Status on previously approved projects are coming from the architectural firm but are moving slowly. The Agency needs to revisit the time lines between approval and action. Also, council needs to address residential concerns within the district New Business: Dirk would not want to be VP again since he can't make meetings regularly because of his new job. The next meeting will be February 6, 2012
