MONTANA STATE LIBRARY i !• TED SCHWINDEN, GOVERNOR 1„15 E. 6 1 : - - - - - -- - -- - --- _ 6TH AVENUE 4 y avG (•406) 444 -3115 =-,/ Until Oct. , , 1983 449 -3 1 15 1iEI.F.NA, MONTANA 59620 August 17, 1983 TO: Federation Coordinators FROM: Sara Parker • • State Librarian The next meeting of the Montana State Library Commission is scheduled for Aug- ! ust 30. It is my understanding the meetings ceding the Commission meetings of federation coordinators pre- dinators meeting together and Jalso of meeting iggws of the tate i Library staff. At one of the area meetings, y with the State y a statement was made that these meetings were "required" by the State Library. Regardless of what understand- = ing has been in the past, it is my feeling the meeting on August 29 should be • considered as invitational and not mandated by the Statf Library. • It is m suggestion uggestion federation coordinators meet.with _ others of the State Library staff from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. August 29 This would be a two - f 0 / subject meeting - the morning to be spent on a report of and discussion of recommendations from the Federation Review retreat and the afternoon a ^ discus - / sion of the State Library's role in "backi of ")' other libraries in the state. Harold Chambers pandhReferencelDepartmentostaff have prepared a draft of a coal 1 ee ion ie;Lei meet n It is our desire to share it with you and other the the state Library. / Fir ) your reactions as to whether or not this articui : tion is the correct one. Because our definition of the inition strongly impacts other libraries in the state, we are also inviting public libraries who have collections titles to ar cipte._n ,this discussion If I don't hear from ou I will assume ,, y you .z are comfortable with the two- ' subject agenda for the meeting on August 29. Otherwise, please call so we may confer. Because this day will be devoted to discussion of very important d il topics, you may wish to invite key staff members to atten1' with you. li SP1jf Ul v N ii y H I `. i:1 c i • ... „f ... , A 5 i CD C 0 r , k tii t..)
