ENACTING SECTION 13.08.225 TO PROVIDE FOR THE
SETTING OF SEWER RATES AND FOR ASSESSMENT OF
UNPAID SEWER CHARGES ON PROPERTY TAXES.
BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Laurel,
Montana, that Section 13.08.225 of the Laurel Municipal Code
is h~reby added to read:
Section 13.08.225 Sewer Rates
A. The City Clerk shall bill monthly each customer according
to the sewer rates as set and approved from time to time
by resolution of the City Council in accordance with the
applicable provisions of Title 69, Montana Codes Annotated,
and Montana Public Service Commission regulations.
B. The City Council may alter, change or amend the sewer
rates by resolution pursuant to law.
C. The sewer rates and all current resolutions establishing,
altering or amending the same shall be on file in the
office of the City Clerk and shall be open to public
inspection.
D. The sewer charges to each customer shall be entered in
their respective amounts as charges against each owner,
manager, occupant, tenant, or lessee of any premises
and shall be charge3 and collected monthly as part of
the utility billing by the City. Should any owner, manager,
occupant, tenant, lessee, or other person in charge or
control of any residential or commercial establishment
fail or refuse to pay the sewer charges when due, then
the unpaid sewer charges shall constitute a lien against
the real property wherein the residential or commercial
establishment exists, and shall be levied with the yearly
property tax statements.
E. Section 13.08.240 is hereby repealed.
This ordinance shall be effective 30 days after final
passage.
