MUNICIPAL CODE, DUTIES OF

OF THE LAUREL
CLERK
IT IS HEREBY ORDAIMED by the City Council of the City of
Laurel, Montana, that Section 2.08.040 of the Laurel Municipal
Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
Section 2.08.040. Duties of Clerk. It is the duty of the
Clerk to:
1. Attend all meetings of the council and record and sign
the proceedings thereof and all ordinances, bylaws,
resolutions, and contracts passed, adopted, or entered
into;
2. enter in a book all ordinanoes, resolutions, and bylaws
hereby
passed and adopted by the council; such book is
designated as "The Ordinance Book";
countersign and cause to be published or posted, as
provided by state law, all ordinances, bylaws, or
resolutions passed and adopted by the council;
sign, number, and keep a record of all lioenses,
commissions, or permits granted or authorized by the
council;
5. take and administer oaths, but must not charge or
receive any fees therefor;
6. file and keep all records, books, papers, or property
belonging to the city and deliver the same to his
successor when qualified;
make and certify copies of all records, books, and papers
in his possession on the payment of like fees as are
allowed county clerks, which fees must be paid into the
city treasury;
make and keep a complete index of the journal, ordinance
book, and all other books and papers on file in his
office;
9. enter in a book kept for that purpose the date, amount,
and person in whose favor and for what purpose warrants
are drawn upon the city treasury; such book is hereby
designated as "The Finance Book";
perform such other and further duties as state law or the
council may prescribe.
This Ordinance shall become effective thirty (30)
final passage by the City Council
