BOARD OF TRUSTEES August 13, 2002
Attending- Margaret Freund (presiding), Gail Brice, Clair Killebrew, Katherine
Kucera, Bonnie Latham, and Peggy Arnold
Minutes- read and approved
Correspondence- There will be a trustee training workshop in Billings on October
25 and 26th. The State Legislature will be making cuts in the State budget which
may effect funding for Library Federations, co- operative database purchases,
interlibrary loan reimbursement, and Laser cat subscriptions.
Circulation- Traffic for July 2002 was 1,639 up 1% from July 2001. Circulation
for July 2002 was 3,427 up 6% from July 2002.
Old Business- The summer reading and crafts program was well attended, the
budget will be adopted August 6, and we will have the Montana Committee for
the Humanities program by Bill Rossiter on Nov. 6, 2002. We may use the
collection management policy to show what the library is unable to purchase.
New Business -Peggy has made an inquiry to have the parking lot patched until
repair and replacement can be included in the city's CIP. Jason Hill is using the
library for his Eagle Scout award and will be doing various tasks to improve the
library including cleaning up the large mural and hanging it in the library
community room. Peggy will be contacting some library patrons who may be
interested in helping to organize a Friends of the Library. Peggy will be on
vacation leave August 16 through August 26.
Margaret Freund will be unable preside at the next meeting due to surgery.
