HomeMy WebLinkAboutLibrary Board Minutes 10.08.2002 MINUTES OF THE LAUREL PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES October 8, 2002 Attending -Gail Brice(presiding), Katherine Kucera, Clair Killebrew, Bonnie Latham, and Peggy Arnold Minutes -read and approved Correspondence -There will be a trustee workshop on October 25 -26 at the Northern Hotel and Peggy will attend a retreat at Chico Hot Springs October 21- 22. Peggy will present some information on library foundations to the City Council on October 15 at 6:30. Circulation- Traffic for September 2002 was 1,219 up 4% from September 2001. Circulation for September 2002 was 2,588 down 1% from September 2001. Old Business -The Montana Committee for the Humanities program with Bill Rossiter will be held on Nov. 6 at the library at 7 p.m. The Eagle Scouts will spend all day on October the 17th working at the library. Peggy attended a workshop on library foundations on September 20th in Helena. Peggy is still talking to library users about forming a Friends of the Library. We will change the library hours on October 17 to open at 9 a.m. for the convenience of our library users. New Business -Clair reported that her quilt guild plans on displaying quilts in the library twice a year. She has also talked to another group of quilters who would also display their quilts throughout the year. Bonnie Latham has been recovering some of our books. Katherine Kucera reported on the Federation meeting that she attended with Bonnie and Peggy on October 5. Karen Stege, presented a report on cuts in federation money and to the State Library for fiscal year 2002- 2003 and ask for help to identify cuts for fiscal year 2004 -2005. Peggy distributed some sample job descriptions from the State Library and the job descriptions that the City of Laurel has adopted for the Library employees. We will try to find out who should prepare and adopt the job descriptions for the library employees at the Trustee Workshop on October 25 and 26. Next Meeting- Nov. 12 at 6:30 p.m.
