BOARD OF TRUSTEES April 13, 2004

Minutes
The minutes of the March 9, 2004 board meeting were read and approved.
Correspondence
The ballots for MLA officers were distributed, one bid has been received for
sidewalk repair, and we received information on the MSL sponsored summer
institute.
Circulation
Traffic for March 2004 was 1,913 up 21% from March 2003 and circulation for
March 2004 was 3;024 up 7% from March 2003.

Old Business
The April 14 budget hearing has been changed to 5:30 p.m. There were over 50
children participating in the Egg Hunt and an additional 30 adults attending the
play that was presented by the Laurel Federated Women's Club. Peggy did not
apply for the Gates Foundation Grant as we did not fit into the grant criteria for
percent of population in poverty. Peggy is submitting a grant for the Montana
Shared Catalog also known as the MSC. The Virtual reference pledge was $500
through fiscal year 04 -05.
New Business
Katherine Kucera reported on the SOC Federation meeting that she and Peggy
attended on April 3. The MSL may disperse federation money directly to
federation libraries rather than federation headquarters handling this duty, but
grants will stay the same. The bylaws for meetings will change so that not as
many members are needed to form a quorum. The Lions Club has put up a
display and National Library Week is April 18 -24
