Board of Trustees September 14, 2004
Attending
Peggy Freund (presiding), Gail Brice, Clara Killebrew, Bonnie Latham, Katherine
Kucera, and Peggy Arnold attended the meeting.
Minutes
The minutes of the August 10, 2004 meeting were read, corrected, and
approved.
Correspondence
We received a check for $631.94 for state aid per capita /per square and a check
for $983 for the federation grant.
Circulation
Traffic for August 2004 was 2,038 up 28% from August 2003. Circulation for
August 2004 was 3,678 up 20% from August 2003.
Old Business
The Ask -a- librarian virtual reference project is live but has not been advertised
yet. Peggy will attend the Montana Shared Catalog fall meeting on October 1 and
will attend training October 20 -22 in Helena. Guitar classes are going well and
the new sessions will begin in November.
New Business
Peggy may attend a free seminar on network security on September 16 in the
afternoon in Billings. The next Federation Advisory Board Meeting is October 2
and there will be a workshop for trustees on November 6 in Billings. Department
head meetings have been changed to the first and third Mondays at 4:15.

No one addressed the board.

Please find enclosed the FY'05 per capita /per square mile check for
your library. The payment is lower than in previous years due to the
budget reductions made by the 2003 legislature.
We hope that the 2005 legislature will restore this funding. To help
legislators understand the impact of these reductions, the State
Library would like to provide them with statements from library
supporters attesting to the value of the state aid funds to their
library. Please take a minute or two to send us a note on your
library's letterhead that speaks to this issue.

Please find enclosed your library's check for the amount of $983.00. This is your
federation grant money distribution for fiscal year 2005. Expenditure of this
money should be based on your federation's FY'05 plan of service.
