LAUREL URBAN RENEWAL AGENCY

Members present: Dirk Frickel, Dean Rankin, Daniel Klein
Advisors present: Steve Arveschoug, Aletta Zimmerman, Janice Lehman
Others present: Bill Kampfer, Heidi Jensen, Mayor Ken Olson, Linda Frickel
Ken expressed positive thoughts on LURA and Heidi on the sidewalk project. He was hoping we could
develop some projects above ground to show money spent for the community
Linda said the painting projects and other projects for the Square are on hold due to weather. The Caboose
curbing is still in the works. It might be good to move the antique street light to the area around town square.
The Chamber is working on the annual meeting and Christmas lights are going up after Thanksgiving
Laurel Revitalization is paying the light bill for the Square.
Daniel said the awning over the mural has been engineered free and they are working on a grant from the Arts
Commission
Heidi has applied for a grant for the "sidewalk trees" and supplied people to inventory trees. S 4 will be
crack filled and chip sealed after winter. Dean wants to look at the dips in the street after winter that may
grow.
No new applications for the Technical Assistance or the Facade Improvement programs. Current approved
applications are still in limbo. Should there be an expiration on applications if now acted on within as an
example of 24 months?
