CODE TO ALLOW A LIMITED NUMBER OF PIGEONS TO BE KEPT WITHIN CITY LIMITS FOR FALCONRY PURPOSES ONLY IT IS HEREBY ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Laurel, Montana, that Section 7.04.020 of the Laurel Municipal Code is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 7.040.20. Keeping certain animals prohibited. A. No person shall keep swine, chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, goats, horses; cows, mules, rabbits, or chinchillas within the limits of the municipality except when transferring such animals to market or where otherwise allowed within this code. B. No person shall keep upon his premises more than two cats. C. No person shall keep pigeons within the limits of the municipality except those persons who are specifically authorized by federal law to breed, raise or train falcons may keep and maintain no more than six (6) pairs of pigeons for falconry purposes only. Persons who are allowed hereunder to keep pigeons for falconry purposes shall not allow any barn, shed, cage, yard or other place wherein such pigeons are kept to become filthy or offensive to neighbors or passerbys, or injurious to the health of any neighborhood or tend to contaminate the atmosphere in any place in the city, nor shall said persons suffer or permit such pigeons to make any loud or -1- i • continuous noises tending to annoy or disturb any neighborhood. Violations of this subparagraph are hereby deemed to constitute a public nuisance under Section 7.04.100 of this code, and shall be punishable as provided in Sections 7.04.100 and 7.04.150 of this code. This ordinance shall become effective thirty (30) days after final passage by the City Council and approval by the Mayor. Introduced and passed on first reading at a regular meeting of the City Council on 1989 by Alderman PASSED and ADOPTED by the Laurel City Council on second reading this day of 1989, upon motion of Alderman APPROVED by the Mayor this day of 1989.
