Update on Street Work:
Kurt stated that the repaving on South East 4 Street is finished. He stated that in order to finish the
project they had to finish on a Saturday, and some business owners were not happy because they had to
shut down the road. The reason for this is that the weather was not going to cooperate and there was snow
in the forecast and only half of the street was finished. Kurt stated that the chip sealing of this street will
take place in the spring because the temperature has to be 60 degrees to be done properly. Kurt explained
that one of the approaches at Tractor Supply is under construction because the approach was not done
properly at the time their parking lot was finished. P & H concrete is repairing this approach. Kurt stated
that chip sealing will also be done next spring on the other streets that were crack sealed.
Water and Sewer rate increase:
Kurt explained why water and sewer rate increases are needed and where the money will be going. Based
on the increasing cost and necessary major capital improvements, Great West Engineering was contracted
to prepare a water and sewer rate study.
Snow plow Routes:
Kurt stated that there is a map of the city snow plow routes on the city's website. The plow has been put
on the city's new pickup and on two dump trucks. The ice slicer and sand is mixed so the city is ready to
plow when needed.
Other:
Kurt stated that they put a fence around the reservoir, because kids were throwing rocks and damaging it.
