COMMUN ICATIONS- Received a letter from Ellen Newberg,director of the
Parmly Billings Library concerning Senate Bill 4 which calls for
de- earmarking Coal Severance Tax for libraries.
REPORT -- Traffic for May 86 was 2504, up 11% from May of 85 and down
13.5% from April of 86. Circulation for May of 86 was 4287, up 7.4%
from May of 85 and down 25% from April of 86.
FINANCIAL -The federation contract for services to county patrons was
signed. The Laurel Public Library will receive $14,840 in 2
installments.
COMMITTEE REPORTS -The next federation advisory board meeting will be in
July, no definite date has been set. The next P.A.L.S. meeting will be
June 28th in Lewistown.
OLD BUSINESS --The establishment of a foundation will be investigated,
ideas on how to acknowledge our donors, and a Friends group
organizational meeting will be planned at the next board meeting.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS - Evelyn Crow was elected chairman,Gene Williams was
elected vice chairman, and Adele Zink was elected Federation
Representative. It was moved seconded and passed that Bonnie Preikszas
be vice chairman if that office is vacated.
NEW BUSINESS -Heat tape will be installed on the roof near the drains
and the roof will be patched in that area. The Eagle Fund has donated
$200 to the library for Large Type materials. Two Youth Manpower
employees have been placed at the library and will work 32 hours each
per week.
BUILDING PROJECT COMMITTEE -Gwen Nottingham strongly suggested that we
get professional help with our grant applications.
