MEMBERS PRESENT: Chairman Chuck Rodgers LuAnne Engh

OTHERS PRESENT: Richard Kiose Cathy Gabrian
Kurt Markegard
The American Legion would like a shed at the cemetery for storage of their equipment, tools and
headstones. The stones are currently dropped off and stored at Laurel Auto Parts. As they accumulate
throughout the year, the Legion would take them to the shed and store them until they can be set.
Chuck said we need to check into the legality of putting a shed at the cemetery.
The Mayor has been working to get leases for all the buildings in Riverside Park. Kurt feels we would
need one for the shed also, so there are no liability issues for the city. The Legion would need to carry
insurance on it.
There was discussion regarding funding.
Richard Klose said the Legion likes the shed from S- Bar -S. It is a 10' x 16' metal shed with ' /2" plywood
and a metal roof for $3,200.00. The cost of a shed with masonite siding and asphalt shingles is $1,875.00.
LuAnne questioned whether metal siding is necessary for the additional cost. The funds may be better
spent in purchasing the wood shed and using the remaining money towards the sprinkler system.
Chuck said the upkeep would be a lot less with a metal building.
Dick likes the permanency of metal siding.
Richard clarified that metal siding comes with a metal roof while wood siding comes with asphalt
shingles.
Motion by LuAnne, seconded by Wally to recommend to the council to purchase a metal shed for
$3,200.00, to be leased to the American Legion and placed next to the city shop at the cemetery. Motion
carried.
Kurt will ask legal counsel to check into this.
Imaging of the cemetery will be done on Tuesday, October 25 starting at 7:00 a.m. A written report
will be submitted by November 2 °d
Wally questioned the electrical costs at the cemetery, with the new lighting on the flags. The Yellowstone
County Veterans' Cemetery only lights the American flag and we are lighting three flags. He said we
need to check it out and if it's expensive, cut back to lighting just the American flag. Kurt said we need
to have a year of history to get a good idea.

Chad Hanson, Great West Engineering, is working on the irrigation system and is hitting Phase I hard.
There was discussion about the size of pipe going from the pump to the cemetery. Kurt said if we think to
the future, we would install an eight inch line. At some point, a booster station could be located by our
reservoir and a line run to the pump. This could then supply both cemeteries and the airport with potable
water. Kurt was going to talk to Chad Hanson and see what the additional cost would be. He would also
ask if potable water could be run through a pipe that previously carried ditch water.
The trees by the maintenance shop, at the cemetery, have been trimmed.
The meeting adjourned.
Respectfully Submitted,
Cathy Gabrian
